About Us

University Mattress was founded in 2006 by a college student.  While attending Vanderbilt University he identified the benefits of sleeping on an upgraded sleep surface. After addressing the issue by utilizing memory foam toppers and mattresses it was readily apparent that many other students wanted the same solutions and a comfortable sleep environment. He then set out to determine how to make the process simple, seamless and hassle free, as local providers could not accommodate the logistical peculiarities of student timetables and summer storage. Hence, University Mattress was born after seeking out industry and retail expertise!

University Mattress was founded on the principle that you should not have to overpay to get quality sleep products while in school.  Having a great night's sleep is one of the most important elements of having a successful college career.  One parent remarked, "Your topper was the most important part of my son's freshman year experience."  

In 2008, the company experienced a change in leadership.  At this time, Jason Weinstein assumed the role of President and CEO and with the help of Executive Vice President, Alan Duro, he took the company from 1 to 16 partner universities.  These individuals have made University Mattress what it is today by continuing to focus on our core values: student discount pricing, top quality products, and convenience.  These qualities bring customers back year after year because they love our products and pricing. 

Over the years, University Mattress, now doing business as Dorm Choices to reflect our broadened product lines, has grown by leaps and bounds.  We now have partnerships with 16 public and private universities from coast to coast and our products and services have been featured in the Wall Street Journal.
